Tarawera Falls

Half day tramp – 1.5 hours

Departs from Kawerau Township to Tarawera Falls car park at 9.00am.

From the car park we then stroll along an easy graded track for 20 minutes until we reach the spectacular Tarawera Falls. Watch as the water surges out through a narrow fissure in a cliff face.

Continue uphill behind the Tarawera Falls through native bush on a moderately graded track.

See the Tarawera River disappear underground at various sites and then re-emerge again. Approximately 1 hours walk from the Tarawera Falls is a safe swimming hole.

We then continue on, following the river to Lake Tarawera, which is a beautiful spot for picnics and BBQ’s (optional).

Tours includes a packed lunch or the option of a BBQ.
